Tal Gallery at Kfar
Vradim, Israel
is honored to host an exhibition of photos of our planet, taken by astronaut
Jessica Meir during her seven month mission on the International Space Station in
2019-2020. Through the perspective of her lens, Jessica
shares with us the rare photos from her personal point of view, revealing her impressions
and reflections of Earth as seen from space. The images display magnificent and inspiring
views of our planet, but also convey awareness of its fragility. The aesthetic,
almost abstract images are in contrast to the threats humankind faces from the
changes in climate, deforestation, rising sea levels, increases in wildfires
and our growing carbon footprint. Some of Jessica's photos portray a calm, peaceful
look at the Middle East, that does not reveal the
stormy events that take place on the ground. Photo: Jessica Meir, Israel and the Middleast, 2020 Courtesy NASA |
